Being a teenager involves challenges.
Although your family might like to see more socializing, staying in your room alone feels more comfortable and safer.
School is demanding, and even though you try your best, it still feels insufficient. The stress makes you wonder, “Is anything worth it? How do I even express how I feel?” Finding ways to cope independently has been all you have ever done.
Sometimes, you seek peace, and other times, pain. Bottling emotions is the only way to stay strong and not let the world know of past heartaches and pain. The shame of something being wrong with you always messing up and not knowing enough can be confusing and isolating. How can you love yourself when you must accept yourself?
Overcoming the challenges you face as a teenager involves realizing that you can feel better and thrive in your youth. I want to acknowledge the circumstances and feelings that can be overwhelming to feel or express to others by offering my services in therapy. If you need therapeutic silence or collaboration, I will be here with you.
Voice your concerns and find solutions.
Teen therapy is a safe space for young individuals to discuss their concerns and explore their boundaries. This setting fosters a casual atmosphere where you can freely express yourself without fear of judgment or repercussions.
In teen therapy, we aim to identify healthy expressions of self while exploring rights to boundaries. This process helps you understand your values and how they align with your desired quality of life. In addition, teen therapy sessions provide an opportunity to identify personal, family, and community values that can contribute to harmonious interpersonal relationships and daily functioning.
The work we do together will create protective factors against the increased severity of symptoms of anxiety and depression that affect teenagers today.
Embrace the journey of self-discovery and find purpose in this life by stopping the beginning of any potential self-sabotage and people-pleasing behaviors before they take over our states of being and functioning.
A note to parents:
Healing childhood trauma in the adolescent years will prepare our young generation in decision-making abilities and choices in friendships and relationships and be free of any peer pressure that can harm the mind or body of the person. This is what teen therapy is all about.
Thank you for trusting me in advance to work with your teenager. I understand the efforts involved in connecting with and guiding your child to a prosperous and healthy life ahead.
I will value the time and space you have given me to work with your family. Feel free to communicate any cultural considerations and values that may enhance our therapeutic process.
